About this offering
“In this love we have our beginning.” - Julian of Norwich
We find these words at the end of Julian’s showings (or Revelations of Divine Love), though the theme is woven through her “revelations” from the opening vision. Love is our beginning—not once, when we were “made,” but continually through every season of our lives. In blissful times, this might seem obvious. But what of the hard times? We will take this question as our starting point in this next “season” of the Julian Circle, exploring the ways we can “perform” her vision (as she put it in that final chapter). We’ll ask what it means that God invites us to begin, again and again, by grounding our lives in love. How does each moment and every circumstance invite you to discover that “in God’s love we have our beginning” every day? How can we, with Julian, “behold” our own lives as the cradle of love’s revelation? As the “place” and “time” for this beginning? Join us as we consider what it means that we are God’s “endless delight,” that we are the center of this revelation.
Each week, participants will receive a short meditation—an epistle or a video—inviting us to “behold” Julian’s wisdom and begin to practice it in our lives. This Circle is open for newcomers to Julian as well as those who have long journeyed with her.
