My Retreat in Everyday Life: 19th Annotation of the Spiritual Exercises

With Patty Cook, RSM, Ph.D.

Do you long to make a deeper connection between your faith in God and your ordinary daily life in the "real world?" Here is a spiritual opportunity: a contemporary adaptation of the classic Ignatian 30-day retreat for those who are not able to take a month away from family, work and other responsibilities. The central purpose of this retreat is to grow in spiritual freedom and find intimacy with God in the midst of action.

Individuals engage in a guided prayer experience over 37 weeks through a commitment to :

  • Daily personal prayer and reflection
  • Meetings with a retreat director
  • regular faith sharing with a small group of fellow retreatants
  • one overnight gathering

Retreatants will be guided by the text, Retreat in the Real World: Finding Intimacy with God Wherever You Are, which participants are required to obtain, and their own translation of the Bible. The retreat ends in May 2019 with an overnight stay at Mercy by the Sea for prayer and reflection (Thursday, May 2 to Friday, May 3, 2019).

The group, which meets on every third Thursday (September 6 and 27, October 18, November 8 and 29, December 20, January 10 and 31, February 21, March 14, April 4 and 25) from 9:30 a.m. to noon, will begin on September 6, 2018, and will end in May, 2019. The cost is $800.

Participation is limited. The application process includes a brief written application and interview with Sister Patty. For more information, contact Guest Services at 203.245.0401. The application deadline is August 21, 2018
