Hope

"You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love the stranger as yourself." – Lev. 19:34
In these challenging times, filled with rejection of immigrants, racial prejudice, shootings and fear of the perceived “other,” it is deeply challenging to feel hopeful. It is important not to give in to despair, but to renew passion for life and belief in the future through love for one another.

The two glancing side figures in this painting, which are mirror images of one another, represent the sorrow we endure over the course of our lifetimes.
The middle figure's eyes are closed in reflection and rather than holding downcast flowers, she holds flowers that are upright. With her head held high, she symbolizes inherent human courage and faith, which is at the core of our ability – time and again – to find the strength to move forward in life.
Please join Janet on April 30 at 3 p.m., when she will be available to discuss her paintings and this exhibit of 20 Giselle prints, quality laminations of her works, which hang in numerous public institutions. Janet will dismantle the exhibit after the talk.
