“The philosophical underpinnings of the way we have organized reality no longer hold…

The world is outgrowing the dualistic constructs of superior/inferior, win/lose, good/bad, and domination/submission…Breaking through in their place are equality, communion, collaboration, synchronicity, expansiveness, abundance, wholeness, mutuality, intuitive knowing and love….readying us for a fresh inbreaking of the Reign of God.”          -Pat Farrell, OSF

As human beings in the 21st century, we are coming to see that we need to find a new way of being if we are not to destroy ourselves; the beauty, bounty and wholeness of creation; and the meaning of life itself. The “new” science is teaching us the truth

  • That everything is inter- and intra-connected
  • That everything we choose and every way we act impacts the whole
  • That the invisible is as real as the visible
  • That life is always dynamic and ever new.

This desire to work in relationship toward a better future is not just an intellectual exercise for many people – it has grown into the deepest longing of our hearts. We long to live well; that is, in right relationship with ourselves, creation and God.

Many of the ways that we imagine and discern what would be consistent with this longing are deeply counter-cultural. Fledgling efforts can be easily snuffed out, people can feel isolated and marginalized.

Mercy by the Sea seeks to create a sacred space where people can get in touch with the still inner voice that speaks to them beyond ego, consumerism and systems of domination—a place where deepest longings, creative imagination and fledgling efforts in service of the greater good can be allowed to emerge, incubate, grow, and be nurtured and pollinated in the world.

This is why Mercy by the Sea invites you to “come explore a new way of being.”
