What is Summer Sabbath at Mercy by the Sea?
Summer Sabbath at Mercy by the Sea offers a space where you can intentionally put aside your day-to-day work and concerns, take time to rest, renew, reenergize, and reconnect with your God, while enjoying the healing beauty of these sacred grounds and the gentle sea breezes of Long Island Sound.
In community with others, deepen your capacity to enter into sabbath rest both for the enjoyment of this week and to develop the practices and habits to carry the spirit of sabbath out into the world. There are opportunities to gather for prayer and reflection once daily with the rest of the day open to spend as you need and choose: walking the Labyrinth, sitting on the beach with a good book, enjoying the magnificent sunrises and sunsets, building community with others, and maybe treating yourself to a massage. Eucharistic Liturgy is available close by at several local parishes and Spiritual Direction is available as requested.
Summer Sabbath is an expansive amount of time in beautiful natural surrounding with comfortable accommodations. There was just the right amount of programing as an option and the knowledge that both community and solitude were equally accessible.
