This Day of Reflection for Spiritual Directors offers the opportunity for reflection, rest and replenishment alongside others engaged in this ministry of accompaniment. The day begins with a gathering led by Megan Shepherd, Director of Spirituality and Retreats for introductions, community building with fellow spiritual directors, and reflection prompts for the morning. There will be opportunities for individual reflection, experiences of prayer, the option for small group conversation if desired, and the gift of time and space to explore the sacred grounds. Lunch is included.
In the afternoon, Carol Hovey will explore an important dimension of pastoral enrichment for spiritual direction. Indirect exposure to graphic or distressing traumatic experiences produces vicarious traumatization. It is described as being unavoidable, cumulative and permanent. The afternoon session will cover not only this process but most importantly how directors can protect and heal themselves. Gather on these sacred shores for renewal of yourself and your ministry.
