Dear Friends,
As we come closer to Holy Week, the violence of another school shooting, a tragic fire at an immigrant detention center at the southern border, and a major storm again lashing the west, make the passion of Jesus feel very close and real.
How do we hold so much suffering? How can we walk the way of the cross with the community in Nashville, with our Earth, and with all those who must leave their homeland? We are all the Body of Christ and connected to one another in this passion. How will we each respond to the wounding of the Body?
As we again make the journey through the holy days of this season, may our hearts be turned resolutely toward our God-given humanity. May we work together for the well-being of that humanity with a realization of our kinship with Earth and all her creatures, embracing the fullness of life with Christ. As we strive to do this, we live the love for others that he lived; knowing suffering while trusting it also brings new life.
Will you watch and pray with us through the days of Holy Week?
Sincerely,
