Photographer's Unique Process Creates Striking Artwork From Nature's Treasures

Beginning June 5, the Mary C. Daly RSM Art Gallery will feature a new exhibit entitled "Enlightened Botanicals / Beautiful Intentions." Featured photographer and artist, Ellen Hoverkamp, finds inspiration from the garden and nature as she carefully selects items from a friend's garden, a walk through the woods, or a stroll on the beach, and thoughtfully arranges the items together. Ellen says that she is "cued by the shape of the object or plant in my hand and my idea of how it will relate well to others." She photographs the arrangement using a digital scanner which is then translated into an image on her computer. Finally, she adjusts the image for tone, color and sharpness to create the final photographic work of art. This unconventional process creates photographs which are striking and brilliant.

We hope that you'll visit the Mary C. Daly RSM Art Gallery to view this stunning show of art photography between June 5 and July 13. Visitors are welcome Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Ellen's artwork will be available for purchase and ten percent of all sales will be donated to ALK Positive Lung Cancer Research.
