About this Offering

Mercy by the Sea invites individuals, organizations, and families to help celebrate World Labyrinth Day, a time when thousands of people globally will “Walk as One at 1” for Peace. The intention for this international observance is to create a rolling wave of unified healing energy around the world. For World Labyrinth Day, Mercy by the Sea will engage Veriditas-certified labyrinth facilitators to guide participants in moving meditations through what will be its newly refurbished 7-circuit outdoor labyrinth, indoor canvas walkable labyrinths, and finger labyrinths. This experiential and contemplative program will support Mercy by the Sea’s “critical concerns” for Non-Violence and care for Earth.

Labyrinths are an ancient archetype dating back more than 4,000 years and belonging to many cultures and religions. A labyrinth is a single, circular path that leads to the center and back out on the same path. Labyrinths evoke metaphor, spiritual pilgrimage, psychological and spiritual transformation, mindfulness and community building. In today’s stress-filled world fraught with violence, unrest and heightened anxiety, walking the labyrinth in prayer, quietude or with music can relax the mind, body and spirit. In the process, a sense of community may emerge knowing that you belong to the inter-connected global family; that you intentionally walk a sacred path with others for world peace and in a spirit of non-violence.

Mercy by the Sea is pleased to collaborate with The Labyrinth Society, which founded the world’s annual celebration, along with Veriditas and the Legacy Labyrinth Project.
